Escaping Mount (Bridge and Roll)

A fundamental escape from bottom mount using a hip bridge to off-balance and reverse the opponent.

Key Points

  • •Trapping both the arm and leg on one side is essential before bridging
  • •Bridge explosively — a weak bridge won't off-balance them
  • •Follow through the roll into a stable top position

Instructions

  1. 1Trap one of the opponent's arms and one of their legs on the same side.
  2. 2Plant your feet close to your hips for leverage.
  3. 3Bridge your hips explosively upward and toward the trapped side.
  4. 4Roll them over your shoulder as they lose balance, following them into top position.
  5. 5Secure side control or another dominant position once the roll completes.
