Striking
Body Kick
A roundhouse kick aimed at the ribs or midsection to target the body and slow an opponent's breathing.
Key Points
- •Aim just below the ribcage for maximum effect
- •Full hip rotation generates the power, not the leg alone
- •Vulnerable to takedowns if the kick is caught
Instructions
- 1Chamber the kick by lifting your knee toward the target line.
- 2Pivot your standing foot a full 180 degrees so your hips drive into the kick.
- 3Extend your leg, striking with your shin into the ribs.
- 4Keep your guard up and chin tucked throughout the motion.
- 5Re-chamber the leg and return to stance rather than letting it drop straight down.
