Striking
Cross (Straight Right)
A powerful straight punch thrown with the rear hand, generating power from hip and shoulder rotation.
Key Points
- •Power comes from hip rotation, not just the arm
- •Commonly follows a jab (1-2 combo)
- •Keep the non-punching hand up
Instructions
- 1From your stance, rotate your rear hip and shoulder forward as you throw.
- 2Extend your rear arm in a straight line toward the target, turning your fist palm-down at impact.
- 3Pivot your rear foot so the heel lifts and turns, transferring power through your whole body.
- 4Keep your lead hand up to guard your chin as you extend.
- 5Retract the arm quickly back to guard after impact.
