Striking
Uppercut
A vertical, rising punch designed to land under an opponent's guard, often used at close range.
Key Points
- •Best used at close range or in the clinch
- •Power comes from leg drive, not just the arm
- •Effective against opponents who duck straight punches
Instructions
- 1Bend your knees slightly and drop your hips to load power.
- 2Rotate your hip and shoulder while driving upward through your legs.
- 3Bring your fist up in a straight vertical line, palm facing toward you at the start.
- 4Aim for the chin or solar plexus depending on distance.
- 5Return to guard immediately — uppercuts leave you open if left extended.
