Body Lock Takedown

Taking an opponent down from a clinch position by securing both underhooks and lifting or tripping.

Key Points

  • •Hip-to-hip contact is essential for control
  • •A leg trip is often easier than a full lift
  • •Maintain the body lock through the finish to keep top position

Instructions

  1. 1Secure double underhooks and clasp your hands behind the opponent's back.
  2. 2Pull your hips in tight against theirs to control their base.
  3. 3Step your leg behind theirs to block it, or lift them off the mat if strong enough.
  4. 4Drive your shoulder into their chest as you off-balance them backward.
  5. 5Follow them down to the mat, maintaining top control.
