Straight Knee

A close-range strike driving the knee straight into an opponent's body, commonly used in the clinch.

Key Points

  • •Devastating in the clinch when controlling the head/neck
  • •Drive with your hips, not just lifting the leg
  • •Keep your base leg slightly bent for balance

Instructions

  1. 1Control the opponent's head or shoulders if in the clinch, or close distance if standing.
  2. 2Shift your weight onto your base leg and drive your other knee straight up and forward.
  3. 3Aim for the midsection, ribs, or thigh depending on range.
  4. 4Snap the knee back down rather than leaving it extended.
  5. 5Reset your base and stance immediately after the strike.
