Teep (Push Kick)

A straight push kick used to control distance, interrupt an opponent's rhythm, or off-balance them.

Key Points

  • •Used defensively to keep opponents at range
  • •Can target the hip to off-balance an opponent
  • •Fast to throw and retract compared to a roundhouse

Instructions

  1. 1Lift your knee straight up toward your chest.
  2. 2Extend your leg forward, striking with the ball or flat of your foot.
  3. 3Drive through your hips as if pushing a door open, not just extending the knee.
  4. 4Keep your hands up and chin tucked during the kick.
  5. 5Retract your leg and reset your stance immediately after contact.
